About This Spot

Stepping into Swiss Restaurant on Jl. Legian Kelod feels like being quietly transported from the tropical bustle of Bali into the cozy embrace of a mountain chalet somewhere between Zurich and the Swiss Alps. The mood is unhurried and warm, with a subtle hum of live jazz or gentle European tunes playing in the background, inviting guests to slow down and savor both the surroundings and company.

The space reflects a unique blend of Swiss simplicity and Balinese artistry—a reassuring mix of familiar Alpine charm and local handcrafted touches that make it feel like a gathering place for both locals and travelers who appreciate nuanced cultural layers. The owner and his family’s presence is palpable throughout, not just in the stories shared but in the genuine care woven into every interaction. This is not a restaurant that rushes its guests; instead, it welcomes them into an ongoing narrative that spans continents and decades.

Here, food is more than just a menu—it’s a bridge between worlds. Sharing a pot of melted cheese fondue or savoring raclette feels at once comforting and slightly adventurous amid the tropical air. The familiar Swiss classics carry a soft harmony with Indonesian flavors and ingredients, offering unexpected moments of delight without overwhelming. Whether it’s a velvety Züricher Rahmgeschnetzeltes or a traditional Nasi Campur plated with a thoughtful twist, each dish encourages a slow, attentive kind of enjoyment.

The atmosphere invites conversation and connection, with attentive yet unobtrusive service that lets the experience breathe. It’s the kind of place where you might find yourself lingering over a glass of beer, listening to soft music, or sharing stories about journeys taken—both those across continents and those found in everyday life. At Swiss Restaurant, there’s a genuine warmth that makes the space feel less like a destination and more like a cherished stop on the map of one’s travels.

Tasty food. Unusual mix of Swiss and Indonesian. What makes it unique is the owner and his family (with beautiful Mercedes always parked outside) sit and eat in the restaurant regularly too. Ask him to tell you his story of DRIVING from Zurich to Bali 40 years ago. Nice artwork on the walls with a blend of Swiss & Balinese styles. Decent music playing in the background too.

The place is nice to have a dinner. We had a fondue cheese. Cheese was ok (don’t expect a real Swiss fondue but for Bali it was ok), the bread served with was not a good deal. Service was good.

I REALLY loved this restaurant. The owner was very warm, inviting and authentic and serves some great food. Albeit a little pricey, but I'm fine splurging sometimes for a good quality meal, and this one did not disappoint. The Swiss vibe of the place had me expecting to find snow outside by the time I left. Feels like a Swiss ski chalet.

I like this. Very nice owner. Live music. Nice decoration. Polite staffs. Very helpful. Jazz music there. Food is perfect. So delicious. Recommend to come when you are in Bali.

Decent place to eat. They don't seem to have the hidden service charges, either way they are quite affordable. Ordered the chicken stay with rice but asked for vegetables instead of rice and they obliged with no extra cost. Good food and service. European music on the sound system.

Highly recommend. The food is delicious, particularly the steak sandwiches. The owners and staff are absolutely lovely and very friendly. Service was great. We went several times and will definitely be back when we are next in Bali

Went here twice for a dinner. The waitresses and waiters are really friendly and responsive, the place have a great ambiance and the food was amazing. Would totally go here again for a Swiss dining experience in Legian. The food was authentic and for those who miss a taste of home - this is where you go.

Been going here since 20 years ago even when they moved locations. Thought it’s no longer here in Bali, but glad to rediscover it. It’s the best Swiss restaurant in Bali, you can get nostalgic with its ambiance, friendly owners & authentic Swiss dishes
